Rock and roll may not exist without Les Paul.  His quest for a new sound coupled with his ability to physically build his inventions ultimately produced the world’s first solid-body electric guitar.

When the rest of the world remained satisfied with the sound of the acoustic guitar, Paul realized the need and desire for something new.  This new guitar and sound were quickly accepted and became the new standard.  With this, rock and roll was born.
